In Sułomino, the Szczecin Lagoon meets a small marina, an observation tower and routes of interest to cyclists. The place is a good fit for a trip that combines maritime impressions with active days. Two things are especially useful for finding your way around: the different route connections around the marina and the view from the tower across the lagoon and the surrounding natural areas.
Marina, views and interests on the water
Sułomino Marina is on the Szczecin Lagoon, near Wolin. It is small and offers facilities for sailors and cyclists. This makes it a specific stopping point for travellers whose interests include both being on the water and cycling. The marina also holds Miejsca Przyjaznego Rowerzystom (MPR) status, meaning it is a cyclist-friendly facility. In direct comparison, Gravelem Wokół Zalewu Szczecińskiego is longer than Wokół Wyspy Wolin.
The marina has an observation tower. From there, you can look out across the Szczecin Lagoon and the surrounding natural areas. If you want to give greater weight to the landscape and maritime atmosphere than to an extensive cultural programme when choosing your trip, this offers a suitable focus for choosing a destination.
Cycling routes with different connections
A section of Blue Velo (R3), which is also part of Trasa Wokół Zalewu Szczecińskiego, runs along the lagoon to Sułomino. The marina is also associated with two other routes: the 320 km Gravelem Wokół Zalewu Szczecińskiego and the 85.7 km Wokół Wyspy Wolin. Their names and lengths provide different points of reference for planning a trip. If you have a particular cycle route in mind, it is worth noting the route itself and its stated length, rather than treating the figures as if they referred to the same route.
Cycling can therefore be a reason in its own right for choosing where to stay: you can consider Sułomino in terms of its connection along the lagoon, or view the marina in the context of the longer routes mentioned. These route connections do not, however, indicate how far accommodation is from the marina. When looking for a hotel or other accommodation, it is therefore advisable to first choose Sułomino as a destination with a maritime and cycling character, then compare individual locations separately.
Beach and event venue
Beaches are also part of Sułomino's appeal. A beach was among the facilities listed as completed at Wolin Park Sułomino. At Western Piknik 2019, a stage was also located on a beach on the shore of the Szczecin Lagoon. The main stage was on a 100,000-square-metre site.
