Bjerge on Jammerland Bay: Beach, Nature and Trails

The coast of Jammerland Bay

The approximately 9 km-long stretch of coastline along Jammerland Bay runs from Råmosegrøften via Ugerløse Strand and Svallerup Strand onwards to Bjerge Nordstrand and Sydstrand and then to the Sukkerkanalen. Bjerge is located along this coastal sequence, which connects several beach sections with the canal. From Bjerge Sydstrand, the route continues to the Sukkerkanalen and is not limited to this beach. Bjerge Nordstrand and Bjerge Sydstrand are both located on this stretch of coastline. Within the sequence, Bjerge Sydstrand lies after Svallerup Strand and before the Sukkerkanalen; Bjerge Nordstrand lies before it. The approximate length refers to the entire route to the Sukkerkanalen and not just to a single beach. The coastal stretch thus connects the bathing area at Bjerge Sydstrand with the watercourse at the Sukkerkanalen.

At Bjerge Sydstrand, the water is shallow and calm and suitable for swimming. At the southern end, there is a beach volleyball court and a playground. The southern end of the beach is therefore the shared reference point for the beach volleyball court and playground.

Trails along the Sukkerkanalen and Halleby Ã…

An accessible trail runs along the Sukkerkanalen. On both sides of the canal, trails lead to the bathing beach on Jammerland Bay. The trail along the canal runs directly beside the watercourse, while the side trails lead to the bay. This means there are two directions for planning routes by the water: one route remains along the canal, while the others lead to the bathing beach on Jammerland Bay. At the Sukkerkanal, the trail and fishing are associated with the same watercourse: the trail runs along the canal, where fishing is also permitted free of charge.

The Halleby Å near Bjerge Sydstrand is part of the Åmosen/Tissø Nature Park. You can walk along the shore to the outlet of the Halleby Å. Entering the Fællesfolden is not permitted. At the outlet, walking along the shore remains possible, while the Fællesfolden is excluded.

Flasken: Protected Area and Birdlife

Reersø Vejle and Flasken form a 285-hectare area that has been protected since 1979. Flasken is home to a rich and diverse birdlife throughout the year. The area around Flasken has the status of a bird protection area. Visitors interested in nature can include the birdlife at Flasken in their stay at any time of year. Birdlife is therefore the focus of the protected area at Flasken.

At FÃ¥rehuset, there are tables and benches for a break, where visitors can enjoy food and drinks.

Fishing in the Canal and from the Klint

Fishing is permitted free of charge in the Sukkerkanalen. Bjerge Klint also offers good fishing opportunities. Thus, the watercourse and the Klint are two distinct location references for fishing in Bjerge. The Sukkerkanalen is also part of the coastal route along Jammerland Bay.
