The water at Strøby Egede beach is shallow, making the beach suitable for small children. If you are travelling along the coast with your family, this specific feature provides clear guidance for planning your day. Strøby Strand, another beach, is also located nearby.

Tryggevælde Ådal is designated as a Natura 2000 site and is therefore specially protected. The river and its surroundings thus form an important natural feature alongside the beach. Those who want to do more than swim when choosing where to stay, and also explore landscapes with special protection status, will find various points of interest in Strøby Egede.

Trails for walking and cycling

The Heart Trail in Strøby Egede is 4.3 km long and starts at the car park at Solgårdsparken. The length and starting point give the route a clearly recognisable structure: You can plan to use the car park as your starting point and include the trail as a specific route option during your stay.

From the Church Road by the church in Strøby Egede, trails branch off north and south along Tryggevælde Å. They pass through a scenic landscape from Stolpehuse in the south to Valløby in the north. The two directions open up different sections along the river and make Church Road a distinctive reference point for exploring on foot.

For cyclists, the 25 km cycling tour “Tryggevælde Å’s hinterland” is available. Among other places, it passes through Strøby Egede and follows Køge Bay via Vejs Ende, Strøby and Ranes Banke, as well as Vallø Castle, before reaching Vedskølle. The tour thus connects several places and sections of landscape in one continuous route.

A water experience with clear boundaries

On the section of Tryggevælde Å from its mouth at Køge Bay to Tryggevældegården south of Hårlev, Faksevej 69, 4652 Hårlev, you may travel by non-motorised boats, canoes or kayaks. This is not permitted on the tributaries of Tryggevælde Å. This spatial distinction is crucial when planning an activity on the water: The permitted section and the unauthorised tributaries are not covered by the same regulation.

Park and traces of early history

Solgårdsparken is a 20-Tønder Land park in the Romantic style in Strøby Egede in northern Stevns. The park is also the place where the Heart Trail starts at the car park.

About 7,000 years ago, eight people were buried at the site of present-day Strøby Egede. They included four women and four men aged between 0 and 50.

In the mass grave found in Strøby Egede, the women were buried in the southern part and the men in the northern part. This spatial arrangement is one of the specific historical details associated with the site.
