Sopot (Zoppot)

The Baltic seaside resort of Sopot (Zoppot) now almost seamlessly adjoins the city of Gdańsk (Danzig) to the north. Sopot developed into a world-renowned, fashionable resort. The seaside town still benefits from this reputation today, and its reconstructed buildings and splendid beachfront promenade live up to it once again.

View of the city from the pierThe 511-metre-long pier, which extends from the beachfront promenade, is a striking landmark and a magnet for thousands of visitors every day. A marina at the end of the pier is a popular destination for recreational sailors. Along the shore, the beach area is dominated by the spa house, newly built by 2009, and the reconstructed Grand Hotel. The lighthouse, integrated into a building, also stands on the beachfront promenade, whose design can hold its own alongside Europe’s most beautiful seaside resorts.
