Camping in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

The Baltic Sea is one of Germany’s most popular holiday regions. It attracts numerous visitors, especially from spring through autumn, and winter camping is also becoming increasingly popular. The campsites along the German Baltic coast are quickly accessible from every direction via motorways 1, 2, 7, 11, 14 and 20. Why camping in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania promises a particularly sustainable holiday is explained in the following article.

Reasons to take a holiday on the Baltic Sea

Many of the regions with the most hours of sunshine in Germany are in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein. Especially in summer, the sun shines more often from a blue sky on the Baltic coast than elsewhere. The fresh, salty air creates a pleasantly mild climate that is ideal for relaxation. The Baltic Sea water in both federal states is of excellent quality and meets EU bathing water standards. The beaches in most seaside resorts are spacious and very well maintained. You can enjoy the view of the sea just as much from your beach towel as while relaxing on a lounger or sitting in a beach chair. There are plenty of interesting places to visit on rainy days—from strolling through historic Hanseatic cities to a family outing at an amusement park.
