Camping on the Baltic Sea
A holiday on the Baltic Sea offers a great many possibilities, depending on the individual interests of prospective Baltic holidaymakers. Camping and the Baltic Sea go together like twins. The main reason is probably that campers want to be close to the water during their holiday. And compared with smaller or larger inland lakes, the Baltic Sea and its bathing beaches still hold a greater appeal for many campers. Over the past decades, this kind of holiday experience has not only become much more popular along the Baltic coast, but has also changed considerably.
Comfort and romance
Where once basic tents were the norm, with very limited sanitary facilities on site, standards today are often comparable to those of permanent holiday resorts. Caravans and motorhomes have almost entirely replaced tents. What has remained, however, is the appeal of living closer to nature than is possible with other types of accommodation. The romance of evenings around the campfire also helps make camping holidays on the Baltic Sea one of the most popular and widespread ways to holiday there. Campers need not miss out on first-class service, either. Campsites open year-round and rated four or five stars are no longer an unusual exception. More and more campsites also offer permanent bungalows for rent. In addition, many Baltic Sea campsites are located right by the beach, often just a few steps from your sun lounger to the Baltic Sea.
Close to nature
Visitors to the Baltic Sea should bear in mind that, unlike in Scandinavia in particular, in Germany overnight stays in a caravan or motorhome are permitted outside designated sites only in exceptional cases and for short periods. In Scandinavia, by contrast, the so-called right of public access applies, allowing people to stay overnight in nature and even on someone else’s property, provided no damage is caused.
