Olsker is a small municipality in the north of the island of Bornholm, about 3.5 km south of Allinge and 2.5 km from Tejn. The surrounding area has a rural character; agriculture is the most common form of land use there. Olsker comprises the village and the surrounding farms and therefore has a dispersed rural settlement structure rather than a concentrated urban destination.
Culture and History
Sankt Ols Kirke, also known as Olsker Church, stands in the village. It is a round church from the 12th century in Olsker on Bornholm. Olsker Round Church was built in 1150 and is one of Bornholm’s four famous round churches. It is considered the smallest, but also the tallest, of these four round churches.
In the vicinity of Olsker are the Bronze Age rock carvings of Madsebakke in the Allinge-Sandvig area.
