Alt Bukow is situated in a glacial moraine landscape between Wismar and Bad Doberan.

Geographical Location

Salzhaff is located approximately six kilometers southeast of Alt Bukow. Neubukow is the nearest town, approximately five kilometers from Alt Bukow; Wismar is about 15 kilometers away.

Landscape

At 54 meters, Scharberg on the northern border of Alt Bukow is the highest elevation in the municipality. The municipal area lies at an average of approximately 40 meters above sea level. The Questiner Tannen forest is Alt Bukow’s only forested area; it covers approximately 170 hectares in the triangle between Alt Bukow, Questin, and Teschow.

Coast and Islands

The islands of Poel, Langenwerder, and Kieler Ort are located in the area surrounding Alt Bukow. The Wangernp beach is located in the wider regional area.

Culture and Excursions

The “Biendorf, Kirche” church is located in the area surrounding Alt Bukow. The Alt Karin Church is also located there. In the wider regional area are Doberan Abbey, a historic site, and Wismar Zoo, a zoo.
