Culture and history

Doberan Abbey is located in the vicinity of Hohenfelde. Hohenfelde was first documented around 1177 under the name “Putechowe” in a list of the founding possessions of the Doberan Cistercian Abbey and is considered one of Mecklenburg’s oldest municipalities.
