Nature and surroundings

The Mühlenberg hill is located in the vicinity of Uelitz. The surrounding area is home to the Schwerin-Zippendorf television tower, Tannenwerder (Toteninsel) and the Zachun water-ski lift.

The wider regional surroundings of Uelitz include “Schwerin, Landesmuseum,” Pingelhof, Flakenwerder and Kaninchenwerder.

Culture and history

Uelitz was first documented in 1218, when the village was sold by the County of Schwerin to the Reinfeld Cistercian monastery in Holstein. Originally, the village consisted of twelve farmsteads arranged around the church. In the 19th century, Uelitz had a windmill on the former road to Hoort.
