Much of the municipality of Pruchten is a spit of land that extends north towards the Zingst peninsula. To the east, it lies between Barther Strom and Barther Bodden; to the west, it borders Bodstedter Bodden. Its Bodden setting and its position in relation to the Zingst peninsula offer nature and water enthusiasts different geographic points of reference. One specific viewpoint is at Kloerbrücke on the Baltic Sea Coast Cycle Route between Pruchten and Bresewitz. There is a Bodden viewpoint there, adding a named vantage point along the cycle route to the description of the town.

There is a natural bathing spot at the campsite in Pruchten, which also gives surfers and kiteboarders access to the water. A local water sports centre offers equipment and courses for beginners and advanced participants. Art and traces of the Darß railway
Pruchten has art studios for painting, sculpture, arts and crafts, and ceramics; their studios are open to guests. The Holzhausatelier und Skulpturengarten Pruchten (Wooden House Studio and Sculpture Garden Pruchten) hosts a year-round studio and workshop exhibition. Steel and wooden sculptures by Max Barske can be found in and around the Holzhausatelier. The Darß railway offers another perspective on the town’s history. The old railway tracks and station buildings have been preserved in Pruchten and Bresewitz; the buildings are now used for other purposes.
