Landscape
The northern part of Rubenow is forested and includes the Lubmin Heath. Part of the former Greifswald nuclear power plant is also located within the municipality. In the southern part are the Ziese Valley and the Ziesebruch, a former glacial meltwater valley up to three kilometres wide.
The surrounding area includes Lubmin Beach, Dänholm and Kleiner Wotig.
Culture and Nature
The surrounding area of Rubenow is home to the Peenemünde power plant, the Peenemünde oxygen plant and Test Stand VII Peenemünde. The Wolgast zoo and the Trassenheide Butterfly Farm are also located there.
Rubenow belongs to the Protestant parish of Kröslin. Its parish community includes several local settlements as well as the islands of Ruden and Greifswalder Oie.
