Spantekow: Hotels and Accommodations

Spantekow is located on the Geest plateau between the lower Peene and the Landgraben. The municipal area also extends into a glacial valley through which the Landgraben runs.

The immediate surroundings of Spantekow include Försterberg and Bullenberg. Hellberg and Katerberg are also located in the surrounding area.

History and Architectural Heritage

Spantekow is first documented in 1275 and was documented again in 1321. A brick church from the 15th century listed in the heritage register has a half-timbered west tower added later, Baroque-style windows, and additions from the 19th century.

The Spantekow fortress complex was built between 1558 and 1567 as a Renaissance palace and fortress. A Baroque tower and two-story side wings were added later. The remains of an older defensive tower have also been preserved in the northern part of the site.

The Trabbi-Scheune and Quilow Water Castle are located in the surrounding area of Spantekow. “Beseritz, Village Church” and “Dahlen, Village Church” are also located there.

In the municipality of Spantekow, Federal Highway 199 runs approximately 5 km to the north, Federal Highway 197 approximately 7 km to the east, and the Anklam interchange of the A20 is approximately 15 km to the west.
