Near Pinnow lies Flakenwerder; the surrounding area includes Kaninchenwerder, Schwaneninsel and Tannenwerder (Toteninsel).

Culture and Surroundings

The surrounding area of Pinnow includes the Schwerin-Zippendorf TV Tower and “Schwerin, State Museum”. Schwerin Cathedral and the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. John, Schwerin, are also located there.

Airfield

Pinnow Airfield is a special-use airfield with two grass runways measuring 800 meters and 500 meters. It is approved for gliders, motor gliders, ultralight aircraft and powered aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of up to two tonnes.

The special-use airfield is located approximately 1 km north of the town center; Schwerin is about 10 km to the west. Pinnow Airfield is located 1 km north of Pinnow and 10 km east of Schwerin.

The airfield’s roots go back to an organized gliding community that was active in Schwerin in the early 1950s.

Cycling

A cycling tour from Pinnow to Lake Barnin follows sandy tracks and side roads; its stops include the Warnow, swimming lakes and Crivitz.
