Lancken-Granitz: Hotels and accommodations

Lancken-Granitz is located on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The area extends to the Rügischer Bodden, including Having Bay and Lake Neuensien; part of the municipality lies within the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve.

Location and landscape

The B 196 federal road runs through Lancken-Granitz. Großer Strand is located approximately around the town center as a beach, and Muglitzer Ort as a cape. Also located approximately in this area are Pulitz Island and Alt Rügen Island, both islands, as well as the Ernst Moritz Arndt Tower as a lookout point and the Kletterwald as a park.

The Church of Bergen, St. Mary, is also located approximately around the town center. In the wider regional surroundings of the town center, the Peenemünde Power Station Museum is located approximately there.

Culture and history

Lancken-Granitz is associated with a megalithic tomb complex comprising seven well-preserved graves dating from around 5,000 years ago and associated with the Funnelbeaker culture.

The megalithic tomb area of Lancken-Granitz is considered the largest and best-preserved concentration of megalithic tombs in Western Pomerania-Rügen; at least 19 graves were previously recorded there.

Lancken-Granitz was first documented around 1250, and the village church was built in the 15th century.
