Geographical Location

Sellin is a municipality on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district.

History

From 1880 onward, Sellin rapidly developed into an elegant seaside resort. Its historical development included a thermal bath, a spa park with a fountain, and a tennis court.

Culture

Sellin is home to the Protestant Church of Grace, built in 1912, and the Catholic Church of Maria Meeresstern, which was consecrated in the same year.

Forthberg is located in the immediate vicinity of Sellin. The surrounding area includes Großer Strand, Binz, the village church, Muglitzer Ort, Pulitz Island, and the Kletterwald. Further afield in the region are the Ernst Moritz Arndt Tower and the Peenemünde power plant.
