A fine-grained white sandy beach up to 40 metres wide and maritime experiences define Zinnowitz on the Baltic Sea. In summer, lifeguards supervise the beach. The Vineta pier extends 315 metres into the Baltic Sea and also serves as a landing stage for passenger ships. From here, ships travel, among other destinations, to Poland, the island of Rügen and the Kaiserbäder resorts. The sculpture trail runs eastwards from the concert shell along the promenade to the Zinnowitzer Hof. At the pier, the diving gondola offers a view of the animal and plant life on the seabed. The approximately 40-minute ride includes an introduction to the ecology and local features of the Baltic Sea, as well as 3D nature films. This is a distinct way to explore the underwater world during your stay—unlike a walk along the beach and promenade, where the sea and coastline are viewed from the outside.
For culture enthusiasts, the yellow theatre “Die Blechbüchse” in the centre of Zinnowitz offers drama, music, readings and cabaret all year round. In summer, the Vineta Festival also takes place outdoors, offering a new theatrical adventure each year. The two offerings differ in both format and timing: the theatre has a year-round programme, while the festival is a summer event. Another striking building is the Protestant church, inaugurated in 1895 as a Neo-Gothic brick structure.
Getting here and finding your way around
By train, the route to Zinnowitz goes via Züssow, where you change to the Usedomer Bäderbahn. It runs via Wolgast directly to Zinnowitz. During the peak season, trains run every 30 minutes; in the off-season, they run hourly. If you are choosing when to travel, this seasonal difference is relevant when planning your journey.
