Ziethen: Hotels and Accommodation

The Peene Valley is a river-and-moorland landscape with peat layers up to nine metres deep, giving the area around Ziethen a distinct connection to the landscape.

Geographical Location

Ziethen is located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, around four kilometres north of Anklam and approximately 20 kilometres east of Gützkow. To the south, the village borders the Peene lowlands; from the northern plateau, the terrain slopes down towards the Peene Valley.

Nature

The restoration of the Peene lowlands began in the 1990s. To this end, old polders were removed, dykes were opened and the depoldered areas were flooded. This restoration created large shallow-water areas at the Menzlin Polder and opposite the Anklam Stadtbruch.

The Anklam Stadtpark is located in the immediate surroundings of Ziethen. The Schlatkow orchard meadow is also situated in the surrounding area. Further afield in the region are Wolgast Zoo and the Trassenheide Butterfly Farm.

Culture

The surrounding area of Ziethen is home to the Trabbi-Scheune, Quilow Water Castle, Quilow Village Church and the Church of Mary Magdalene in Schlatkow.
