The Peene forms the southern edge of Gützkow; there, the higher-lying terrain descends comparatively steeply to the river.

Landscape

Gützkow is situated on elevated terrain crossed by glacial channels of the Swinow, the Dargezin Stream, and several other smaller streams. Remaining watercourses and swampy peripheral areas characterize the surrounding landscape.

Bodies of Water

The Swinow flows through Gützkow and empties into the Peene south of the town. Parts of its lower course include floodplains that serve as wetland habitats; sections have been restored to natural meanders. The Kosenowsee lake is also located in the eastern part of the Gützkow municipal area.
