Jezioro Wdzydze is also called the “Kashubian Sea.” Together with its arms Radolne, Jeleń and Gołuń, the lake area covers 1,430 hectares. An approximately one-hour trip aboard the Stolem on the Wdzydze Lakes goes around Ostrów Wielki, the largest island in the lake. Its approximate duration makes this trip a clearly defined way to spend part of the day on the water.

The Gmina Kościerzyna has 80 kilometres of waterways for canoeing. The rivers named as canoe routes are the Wda, Pilica, Wierzyca and Trzebiocha. One specific water route, Borowa–Pilica–Graniczna–Trzebiocha–Wda, starts at “Kajaki Młyn” in Korne. The operator provides watercraft, gives briefings and offers visits to the old mill. Check current availability directly before basing your plans on it. In Wdzydze, the Stanica Wodna PTTK also has a watersports equipment rental service; check its current opening hours and availability in advance as well.

Nature Trails on Foot and by Bike

Three nature trails vary in length and number of stops. The nature and education loop in Juszki is five kilometres long and has five information boards. “Szlakiem pięciu jezior” in Wąglikowice stretches for six kilometres and has five stops. The nature trail in Wdzydze is shorter, at four kilometres, and has eight stops. These details help you compare the routes by length and information available, without assuming a walking time or difficulty level.

Cycling routes also offer practical guidance: the “Kościerzyna–Wdzydze” route passes Lizaki and Juszki. As its course may change, check the current route before setting out. The Centrum Usług Turystycznych in Wdzydze provides maps of cycling and walking trails, as well as suggestions for trips. You can use the map to connect a route with other interests during your stay.

Museums, Crafts and Kashubian Culture

In Wdzydze, the Muzeum – Kaszubski Park Etnograficzny im. Teodory i Izydora Gulgowskich, Poland’s oldest open-air museum, is set on a 22-hectare site on the shore of Jezioro Gołuń. More than 50 examples of regional architecture from Kashubia, Kociewie and the Tuchola Forests illustrate rural building styles from the 17th to the 20th century. Alongside the lakes and nature trails, this offers a distinct focus on cultural history.

The museum’s programme includes concerts on a Baroque chamber organ made in 1765 by Gdańsk organist Gottfried Weinert. Performances by regional folk ensembles are also not uncommon there. The Jarmark Wdzydzki is also held at the open-air museum; check the date of the event’s current edition if you would like to include it in your travel plans.

For a different kind of insight, the Zakłady Porcelany Stołowej “Lubiana S.A.” porcelain factory offers tours year-round, Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 12 pm, by prior arrangement.
