The calm, shallow waters of Puck Bay make windsurfing an obvious activity to consider during a stay in Chałupy. Kashubian boats and St. Anne’s Church

At the end of July, Chałupy hosts the annual festival “Kaszëbszczie bôtë pod żôglame,” meaning “Kashubian Boats under Sail” in English. The festival offers the chance to see regattas featuring old fishing boats, including Pomerankas as well as rowing, sailing and punting boats. Visitors interested in maritime culture can get a specific insight into different traditional types of boats. As the festival takes place at a set time of year, it is particularly worth considering when planning a trip for the end of July.

Another distinctive building is St. Anne’s Church. Its structure is designed to evoke a Checz—a traditional fishermen’s cottage. This is a distinctive architectural reference, different from the maritime festival tradition: here, the focus is on the form of a building; there, on old fishing boats and their regattas. Together, these aspects give a stay in Chałupy a cultural dimension alongside the beach and water sports.

Getting around by train and bike

Chałupy is one of the holiday resorts on the Hel Peninsula with a rail connection. The R10 route also runs along the peninsula and through the village, between Władysławowo and Kuźnica.
