Jonstorp is close to the sea and several forest areas on the Kullaberg Peninsula, surrounded by nature. Coastal trails, forests, time by the water, cycling and the area’s maritime history offer different ways to plan your trip. When choosing accommodation, you can first consider whether nature experiences, outdoor activities or a stay by the bathing area should be the main focus.

Coastal landscape and forest

The Jonstorp-Vegeåns mynning Nature Reserve includes deciduous forest, grazed coastal meadows and sand dunes. Forest, open meadows and dunes show that the area brings together different landscape types. For nature lovers, this means there are not only wooded areas to explore, but also pastureland and open coastal landscapes.

Vitsippeskogen is one of the few forest areas in Jonstorp close to residential areas. It is a swamp forest with plenty of alder and birch, and several paths run through the area. Unlike the coastal meadows and sand dunes in the nature reserve, this forest is a wetland type. If you are choosing nature experiences for your stay, you can therefore choose between open coastal landscapes and a forest with particular tree species.

Trails, stages and cycling route

Regionally, Kullaleden is part of the Skåneleden SL 5 trail around the Kullaberg Peninsula. The coastal section of Kullaleden passes through the Jonstorp-Vegeåns mynning Nature Reserve, from Utvälinge in the east to Svanshall in the west. Its designation as SL 5 gives the regional context; the place names describe the route of this section.

The Skåneleden stage from Utvälinge to Jonstorp ends in Jonstorp. A distinctive feature of the Jonstorp–Utvälinge section is the crossing of the Görslövsån via a suspension bridge. Kattegattleden, a cycling route, passes through Jonstorp. These details can help you choose the focus of your active holiday: Kullaleden offers a coastal route, the Skåneleden details highlight features of its stages, and Kattegattleden offers a cycling route.

Bathing area, water sports and local history

At Revet in Jonstorp, the water is usually very shallow, and there is a barbecue area, lawns and a toilet. This makes the bathing area a specific option for spending time by the water, alongside forests and routes. Many people use Jonstorp’s bathing area in the sheltered bay as a starting point for windsurfing or kitesurfing. These activities are seasonal and weather-dependent, so take the conditions during your travel dates into account when planning them.

Jonstorp Church houses a carefully crafted model of the brig “Hiram” from Jonstorp. It recalls the area’s heyday as a shipping centre and adds a maritime history element to its nature and walking trails. Kullamarknaden is held annually on the first weekend of July. If you would like to plan your stay around this event, check the dates for your travel year.
