There are two distinct ways to get to know Ödåkra: its nature and its local history. The restored Ödåkra sjö wetland and trails in Duvestubbe Forest shape its natural character; its history spans everything from farming at Duvestubbe farm to beverage production. If you are planning a stay, you can consider whether landscapes, walking trails or historical themes should take centre stage.

Trails by the wetland and in Duvestubbe Forest

The trails around Ödåkra sjö connect to the trails in Duvestubbe Forest and to the new underpass beneath the railway tracks on Bokgatan. The project was completed in spring 2023. Duvestubbe Forest is home to beech trees about 120 years old and oak trees a hundred years old. You can follow the rippling Välabäcken stream through the forest. The natural features are distinct: Ödåkra sjö is a restored wetland, while the forest is defined by old trees and the stream. When planning, you can weigh up the wetland and forest landscapes.

Nature reserves and picnic spots

Duvestubbe is a nature reserve on the outskirts of Ödåkra. It has walking trails, wind shelters and two barbecue areas. These features make the character of the area tangible: in addition to trails, it offers shelter from the wind and places to barbecue.

Björka fälad is in the Ödåkra area, near Väla centrum. It has a pond and a picnic spot with tables and benches. This gives Björka fälad a different focus from Duvestubbe: here, the pond and picnic spot take centre stage, while Duvestubbe has walking trails, wind shelters and barbecue areas. In November 2024, the municipal council decided to establish Björka fälad as Helsingborg's 23rd nature reserve.

Farm history and beverage production

Starke Tufves stuga is in the Ödåkra area, just north of Duvestubbe Forest. The small museum commemorates the person who farmed Duvestubbe in the 18th century. This connection to farming in the past adds a specific historical focus to the area's natural attractions.

Another strand of local history is beverage production. Helsingborgs Spritförädlings AB was founded in 1898 next to the railway in Ödåkra. Ödåkra Taffel Aquavit was made at the distillery in Ödåkra; production ended in 1977. At Spritan in Ödåkra, Ödåkra Brygghus brews IPA, lager, porter and folköl. The local beverage history thus spans the discontinued aquavit production and the beers made by the brewery.

Rail connections for planning your trip
