Discover Stjärnhov through its waterways, forest areas and varied activities. The Natån flows from Lake Naten towards Lake Båven. A paddling trip on the Natån between the two lakes starts in the Stjärnhov area. Water is therefore not just part of the landscape here, but also a practical starting point for planning your day.

Water and trails around Stjärnhov

The Nässelstaån connects Lake Naten with Kyrksjön upstream. A hidden trail runs along the river; the forest beside the Nässelstaån has the character of a natural forest, with large trees and some standing deadwood. Visitors interested in the landscape will find a different impression here than at a swimming spot or on the water. The trail to Nässelsta Mill starts in the centre of Stjärnhov. The town’s waterworks are also located along the Nässelstaån, drawing groundwater from the extensive Badelundaåsen ridge.

The Putbergen Nature Reserve also offers its own natural forest, with pine trees that are more than 300 years old. The easiest way to reach the area is via stage 18 of the Sörmlandsleden, which passes through the eastern part of the reserve. Solbacka lies just outside Stjärnhov and has a connection of about three kilometres to stage 19 of the Sörmlandsleden. These two details help distinguish the different nature-focused destinations available during a stay, without conflating the stages.

Swimming spots and activities in town

Natenbadet is in the heart of Stjärnhov, behind the Ica store. The swimming spot is easy to access and welcomes residents and visitors alike. It can be reached by bus from Gnesta station, with stops nearby. Dammhagen is in the vicinity of Stjärnhov, on Kyrksjön, and offers another named swimming spot in the region.

The themed playground “Balansera mera” is in the centre, on Häggvägen. Its facilities include a climbing frame, a slide, small caves and a suspension bridge. If you would like to plan other activities alongside a visit to the water, you can also consider the sculpture and boules park in the centre, on Road 57. The two places have different focuses: play equipment at one, sculptures and boules at the other.

Äppellunden has a selection of traditional garden games: skittles, boules, horseshoe throwing, cornhole, frisbee darts and giant Jenga. The activities can be arranged as a triathlon, pentathlon or decathlon. Solbacka also has two padel courts and a tennis court. If you prefer golf, Solbacka Golfklubb has an 18-hole course, a driving range and a practice area in a natural setting.

Another activity in Solbacka is the adventure golf course “En resa genom Sörmland”. The course has twelve holes; a round takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Several holes and obstacles feature well-known and lesser-known places, buildings and stories from Sörmland. The round therefore focuses on the region as well as the game. For planning your day, the stated playing time is a guide; course details may change.

Culture, history and events

Just outside Stjärnhov is Gryts hembygdsgård, with several old buildings, including the Hässleby Museum. Grytsbergs Säteri in Stjärnhov has origins dating back to the 12th century. Both names provide a historical connection when choosing where to visit, while Lagårn i Ullsta offers another kind of cultural experience: the historic barn hosts exhibitions, concerts and events, and overlooks Lake Misteln. Individual programme dates may vary.

At Lagårn, Musik i Gryt hosts music evenings with a bar. If you are interested in attending one, check the latest event dates. A cooking class can also be booked at Grytsberg on request; making an enquiry is the way to check the booking options available. For a meal in town, Bar 57 is a restaurant in the centre of Stjärnhov with a pizza menu. As restaurant details may change, it is advisable to check the latest information before visiting.

The offerings provide different points of reference for planning a trip: paddling and swimming spots put the focus on water, while natural forests and the Sörmlandsleden offer other ways to enjoy the outdoors. Playgrounds, garden games, golf and tennis add to the selection; exhibitions, historic buildings and music evenings offer cultural highlights. This makes it possible to choose Stjärnhov based on the interests you want to shape your stay.
