Banie Mazurskie was founded in 1566. Its history is shaped by Masurian settlement, Germanization, the post-war repatriation from the east, and the resettlement of Ukrainians as part of Operation Vistula.

Religious Buildings and Historical Traces

Historical religious buildings include a former Protestant church, now used as a Roman Catholic church, as well as a former Baptist chapel, now serving as a Greek Catholic church.

The town’s historical transport landscape also includes a former railway station on the Gołdap–Węgorzewo line. The station was closed, and the railway line now exists only in part.
