A 2026 bathing water notice names Plaża Irys, at 31 Leśna Street, as a spot occasionally used for swimming at Lake Orzysz. This gives you a specific place to consider if you would like to include a swim in your day’s plans. Since the spot is only occasionally used for swimming, plan flexibly and check local conditions before your visit. That way, swimming remains a possible activity during your stay without requiring you to plan around fixed swimming times.
Churches from different centuries
In 1530, the Protestant community built a new church in Orzysz, the later Church of Our Lady of the Scapular (Matki Bożej Szkaplerznej). After lightning damage, the church was restored in 1832 and again in 1872. Its construction and restoration history thus spans several clearly dated periods: its construction in the 16th century and two later works, each following lightning damage. For those interested in local history, this provides a specific timeline rather than just a name and a year of construction.
The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa) offers a different architectural accent. This eclectic church dates from 1913 and has a decorated façade. Orzysz has military traditions dating back to the 18th century.
