Frederikshavn

Located in the north of the Jutland peninsula, the ferry port of Frederikshavn is also the starting point for a trip to a small group of islands about 7 km away. Here, you can unwind in nature and enjoy it as a wellness break in northern Denmark. Frederikshavn itself is also a popular destination for many Swedes and Norwegians , as well as a holiday destination in Jutland.

Every day, the city of Frederikshavn welcomes a large number of day-trippers and excursionists. Holidaymakers staying in Frederikshavn can watch the spectacle right in the city centre, at one of Denmark’s largest ferry ports. The large ferries from the Swedish city of Gothenburg and from Oslo dock right in the centre of Frederikshavn, just a gangway away from the city’s shopping centre.

Trawlers and gillnetters lie in the fishing harbour. Several times a week, Frederikshavn invites holidaymakers to go deep-sea fishing in the Baltic Sea. The impressive rescue drills demonstrated by the maritime school for training purposes are also an experience for the whole family.

Frederikshavn also invites visitors to follow in the footsteps of several Baltic Sea seafarers. Along the way, you’ll also discover Frederikshavn’s most important sights. The Powder Tower (Krudttårn), rising beside the shipyard, shines white and can be seen from afar. It is part of the large Fladstrand Fortress, which has a wealth of military history to tell and show.

Enjoy a peaceful holiday in Frederikshavn in its attractive holiday apartments and houses, as well as at the Bangsbo Museum and animal park and from the Cloos Tower, 5 km from the city centre. You can also relax on the Baltic Sea beaches stretching near Rønnerhaven, north of Frederikshavn, which invite you to enjoy a beach holiday in summer.
