Koserow
The first holidaymakers arrived in the seaside resort of Koserow in the mid-19th century. Here, at the narrowest point of Usedom Island, where storm surges have divided the island several times, the painter Otto Niemeyer-Holstein settled in the 1930s. His memorial studio at the place he called “Lüttenort” commemorates him today. At 59 metres, Streckelsberg is one of the highest elevations on Usedom.
Koserow Church, the oldest on Usedom, has become a venue for the “Classical Music by the Sea” series. Its repertoire includes well-known plays such as “Faust” and “Everyman”, performed by actors from Berlin.
Near the entrance to the pier, some of the old salt huts have been preserved. They were once used to preserve freshly caught fish. Today, it is possible to get married here.
