Ueckermünde Zoo
Ueckermünde with its old town, castle and harbour is an attractive destination for a day trip for anyone holidaying on the Haff coast. Ueckermünde Zoo was established in 1962 in a wooded area on the western edge of the town, where its grounds blend in beautifully. In recent years, with exceptionally active support from local residents and businesses, the zoo has become a popular attraction for visitors of all ages.

More than 400 animals representing 100 species live in the park. Alongside native domestic and wild animals, they include several species of monkeys, lions, parrots, llamas and kangaroos. The animals live in spacious, natural-looking outdoor enclosures. Visitors can also enter some of the enclosures. These include a small outdoor enclosure for Barbary macaques, and walking through it is always an enjoyable experience for the whole family. The extensive red deer enclosure provides these native large mammals with a suitable habitat. Visitors are welcome to feed the deer using the feed dispensers, drawing them to the fence where they can be observed at close quarters. Information boards and catering in the main building give visitors to Ueckermünde Zoo more to discover and help make their stay thoroughly relaxing. The zoo offers tour groups attractive package deals combining admission and catering. Feeding demonstrations featuring various animals add extra excitement to a visit.
A wonderful addition is the area of the zoo where historic farming equipment is on display, offering visitors an authentic glimpse of the agriculture that once predominated in Pomerania. The zoo school provides biology lessons for school classes of all ages with an exceptional level of hands-on learning. Interactive tours and feeding demonstrations ensure an exciting day out for all visitors. You should allow about three hours for a visit to the zoo.
