Seaside Resort Ueckermünde

Ueckermünde lies at the mouth of the River Uecker, where it flows into the Szczecin Lagoon. The castle in the heart of the town is the only ducal Pomeranian castle still preserved outside Szczecin.
The Haffbad beach at the mouth of the Uecker is a popular swimming spot for locals and visitors, with a sandy beach almost a kilometre long. The combination of the harbour’s maritime atmosphere and the amenities of the Haffbad led to Ueckermünde being awarded the designation “Seaside Resort” in 2013.
The main attraction for visitors is Ueckermünde Zoo. The town itself has been awarded the designation “Family-Friendly Town.”
To the southeast of the town lies the Ueckermünde Heath, one of the largest forest areas in northern Germany. It stretches to the outskirts of the Polish city of Szczecin and offers excellent conditions for cycling trips in every season. The entire lagoon coast between the holiday resorts of Mönkebude in the west and Altwarp in the east is especially appealing. There are several beaches, picturesque little harbours and a hinterland with varied natural landscapes.
