Allinge-Sandvig: Hotels and Accommodation

Allinge-Sandvig is a twin town on the north coast of the island of Bornholm. The town emerged through the merging of Allinge and Sandvig into a single settlement, combining two distinct origins along the coast.

Geographical Setting

Allinge developed around a natural harbour, while Sandvig originated as a medieval fishing village. Allinge-Sandvig is regarded as the heart of northern Bornholm and as a starting point for nearby natural and cultural attractions.

Culture and History

Northwest of Allinge, near the Hammeren headland and in the immediate surroundings of Allinge-Sandvig, lies Hammershus, an important medieval fortress ruin. Solomons Chapel is also located nearby. Between Allinge and Sandvig, Madsebakke preserves Bronze Age rock carvings.

Coast and Landscape

A waterfront promenade and walking paths connect Allinge and Sandvig and continue towards Hammerhavn. The wider area of northern Bornholm around Allinge-Sandvig is characterised by granite cliffs, coastal paths and sweeping sea views. Sandvig has a sandy beach, while the surrounding coastline includes rocky coves and a rugged northern landscape.
