Klein Vielen is a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District district in southern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated on a gently rolling plateau at the North Sea–Baltic Sea watershed, on the northeastern edge of Müritz National Park. The villages belonging to Klein Vielen can be reached via the B 193.

Landscape

The villages of Klein Vielen are located in a glacial moraine landscape with meadows, fields, forests, and several lakes. Strelitzer Berg, Seeberg, Barenberg, and Schäferberg are located in the surrounding area.

Bodies of water

The wider area of Klein Vielen includes Klein Vielener See and Wedensee. Klein Vielener See is approximately 2,300 meters long and up to 500 meters wide; the 800-meter-long Wedensee lies in its continuation.

History and culture

Klein Vielen was first documented in 1170 under the name “Vilim Carstici.” A manor house was built there in the 15th century, but it has not survived. Burial mounds can be found near Peckatel and on the small and large Geldberge hills between Adamsdorf and Klein Vielen.
