Hohenzieritz is located at the edge of a terminal moraine that rises to around 100 meters above sea level west of the Tollense glacial valley.
Geographical Location
Hohenzieritz is a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District administrative district in southern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The municipality is located approximately 25 kilometers south of Neubrandenburg and around 11 kilometers from both Neustrelitz and Penzlin.
Seeberg is located in the vicinity of Hohenzieritz. Rabenberg, Strelitzer Berg, and Kronsberg are located in the surrounding area. The wider regional area includes Wildberg, the abandoned settlement of Kastaven, the Kulturpark, and Cölpin Village Church.
Landscape
The locality of Prillwitz, which belongs to the municipality of Hohenzieritz, is located on the western shore of Lake Lieps. Its entire shoreline is designated as a nature reserve. Other protected areas in the municipality include the Rosenholz, Zippelower Bachtal, and Ziemenbachtal nature reserves.
Culture
Hohenzieritz is known for its palace, which is associated with the death of Prussian Queen Louise.
