Staven is part of the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake District travel region and is located about 14 kilometers northeast of Neubrandenburg in the Werder ground moraine area.
Landscape and Location
The municipal area of Staven is predominantly characterized by vegetation. Of the total area of 1,472 hectares, 1,323 hectares are covered by vegetation and 29 hectares by water.
Culture and History
Staven has a Romanesque church dating from around 1300. The late Baroque manor house dates from the 18th century, was remodeled in the neo-Gothic style in the 19th century, and renovated after 1996. Staven was first mentioned in 1303 under the name Stouener.
