Schönbeck is a municipality in the eastern part of the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in southeastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The highest elevation of the Brohmer Hills is located in the wooded east: 153.1 meters above sea level.

Geographical Location

Schönbeck is located approximately 25 kilometers east of Neubrandenburg and approximately 15 kilometers north of Woldegk.

Nature and Landscape

The Mühlenbach flows through Schönbeck and runs northward to the Brohmer Reservoir. The Eichhorst nature reserve is located in the Schönbeck Forest in the southwestern part of the municipality. The Drachenberg is located nearby; the surrounding area also includes the Wittenborn Spring, the Braune-Weiße Spring, and the Jägerberg.

Schönbeck has two artesian wells: one at the former rectory and another approximately 800 meters northwest of it. The water from the wells is considered to have a high iron content.

Culture

The Blankenburg ruins and the Schlossberg are located in the wider regional surroundings of Schönbeck. The surrounding area also contains the “Cölpin Village Church”; the church ruins are likewise located in the wider regional surroundings.
