Geographical Location
Karnin is a municipality west of Stralsund in the Vorpommern-Rügen district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Federal Highway 105 runs through Karnin. The Stralsund–Rostock railway line runs south of the municipality; it can be reached via Velgast railway station.
History and Culture
Karnin has historical connections to the Karnin manor estate. In the mid-19th century, this was associated with Friedrichshof, the Dabitzer Wiese, farms in Rubitz, and the island of Barther Oie; the island is located in the surrounding area of Karnin.
