History and Church
Altwigshagen was founded more than 700 years ago as an estate settlement and is considered the oldest municipality in the Torgelow-Ferdinandshof administrative district.
The church in Altwigshagen has medieval origins. A document from 1313 lists Stolpe Abbey as its patron. The church also preserves two epitaphs associated with the von Borcke family, dated 1689 and 1747.
