Bodden, Fields and Forests

This offers activities both on land and on the water: cycling takes you through fields and forests, while paddling lets you explore the Bodden. Manor Estate and Park
Among the surviving buildings and features of the historic Klausdorf manor estate are the former inspector’s house, three farm buildings, the orangery and the park, with its wall and observation tower. The inspector’s house is a Neo-Baroque building dating from around 1890; Klausdorf Manor Park is heritage-protected.
The manor estate’s former large bull barn underwent extensive renovation in 2006 and was converted into the Vorpommernhus. The former observation tower in the manor park was also restored in 2012 and converted into the Klausdorf Species Protection Tower. The reconstructed espalier fruit garden in the manor park features old and fine varieties of fruit trees and shrubs in four beds, each around 70 meters long. These include berry fruits, shrubs and pome fruits, as well as wall-trained espalier fruit varieties.
Barhöft in the Municipality of Klausdorf
The district of Barhöft, which belongs to the municipality of Klausdorf, offers another maritime focus. All berths at Barhöft harbor have electricity and drinking water. Other options in Barhöft include kayaking trips to Hiddensee and fishing in waters rich in fish.
National Park Exhibition, Viewpoint and Cliff Trail
The National Park Exhibition in the Haus am Kliff is near the harbor, atop the Barhöft cliff and next to the observation tower, which is visible from far away. From the harbor, follow the signs toward the cliff. Using photographs, drawings and engaging displays, the exhibition introduces visitors to the protected landscape, and is also suitable for adults and visitors from abroad. The 17-meter-high observation tower beside the exhibition offers views across large parts of the national park and of islands, wind flats, the Bodden and the Baltic Sea. A smaller viewing platform at the parking area in Zarrenzin overlooks the Werder Islands and the Bodden waters. The trail along the Barhöft cliff also starts there: it follows the old cliff to Barhöft.
Vorpommern-RĂĽgen as the Wider Region
The wider travel destination of Vorpommern-RĂĽgen also includes the island of RĂĽgen and the nearby islands of Hiddensee and Ummanz. The Fischland-DarĂź-Zingst peninsula chain is also part of the district of Vorpommern-RĂĽgen. In Klausdorf itself, the options center on the beaches along the Bodden, the manor park and outdoor activities. This lets you consider the local highlights separately from the wider region.
