The Tannenberg Monument and its history

Remains of the Tannenberg Monument lie within the city limits of Olsztynek. The mausoleum was built between 1925 and 1927 and was dedicated to the Battle of Tannenberg, fought in August 1914. The event and the structure are therefore separated in time: the mausoleum was built more than a decade after the battle. This connection makes the monument a clearly defined historical point of reference in Olsztynek.

Unlike the Dom Mrongowiusza, this museum explicitly links the city’s history with the two world wars and the camp.
