Kajny is located in Warmia, in Olsztyn County and in the eastern part of the municipality of Jonkowo – on the Stara Łyna and in the Olsztyn Lakeland.

The area around Kajny encompasses the Łyna Valley and lies within a protected landscape area. A yellow cycle route runs through Kajny.

History and Architectural Heritage

Kajny has a documented medieval origin: the settlement was founded in the 14th century at a site called campus Kaynyn. Three roadside chapels from the late 19th century in Kajny are considered neo-Gothic; one stands next to the historic Rautenberg farmstead. In the Łyna Valley near Kajny, the remains of an early medieval Prussian hillfort are reported.
