Nowa Kaletka is situated on Lake Gim in the historic region of Warmia, 26 km southeast of Olsztyn. Its lakeside location is combined with a landscape shaped by agriculture and forestry.
Landscape
The local landscape comprises agricultural and forested areas, with trees along the roads and among the fields. Nowa Kaletka is considered a summer holiday resort with several holiday centres and many private holiday homes. There is a public transport stop in the village.
History and Culture
Nowa Kaletka was established on 20 January 1827 through the administrative division of the older settlement of Kaletka. The former colony developed in a forest clearing and was initially associated primarily with forestry workers.
A Polish school was opened in Nowa Kaletka on 10 April 1929. The Warmian poet Michał Lengowski is associated with the earlier history of the school in the 19th century. The former school building houses the Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Gimu and a community room for children and young people.
In the wider regional surroundings of Nowa Kaletka are Olsztyn - Castle 14th c., Nidzica - Teutonic Castle 14th c. and Szczytno - Teutonic Castle 14th c. Dąbrowa and Janusz Kusociński Park are also located in this wider regional area.
