History and Culture
Idzbark was founded in 1327 as a rent-paying settlement by Luter of Brunswick, the commander of Ostróda. A chapel dating from before the Reformation is associated with the parish of Ostróda. It is recorded that in 1552, people of Polish and German origin lived in Idzbark.
