The Miłomłyn Lock on the Elbląg Canal is located on Kościelna Street. It connects the branch toward Ostróda with the higher water level of the canal toward Elbląg and Iława. The lock can therefore also be seen as part of the waterway’s distinctive branching: several directions on the tourist canal meet in Miłomłyn.
The harbour in Miłomłyn includes a slipway and a landing stage; a lowered section of the landing stage is intended for light watercraft. If you plan to use these facilities, check that they are currently available before your visit. The terrain therapy trail runs along a former railway embankment by Lake Ilińskie. Solar lights, benches and small piers are among its amenities. You can reach the trail via Jeziorna Street; from there, turn right toward the car park by the lake and the bridge. This allows you to take both the lakeside location and the route into account when finding your way, without assuming a walking time or distance.
Miłomłyn’s forest health park covers just under 63 hectares and offers outdoor recreation and movement therapy. Its listed facilities include inhalation shelters and two therapy stations equipped for outdoor fitness. This gives you different ways to combine time outdoors with exercise or a more restful stay in the park. The salt graduation tower adds another dimension to this theme: it has one area for inhalation baths and a separate area for resting and relaxation. The graduation tower operates from May to October; check its seasonal opening period before your visit.
Church and local history
The three-nave Church of St. Bartholomew was built in the neo-Gothic style between 1898 and 1901. A low clock tower stands at its north-eastern corner. During construction, the Gothic nave was demolished; its north wall and the medieval defensive tower were preserved. The defensive tower continued to serve as a bell tower. The church thus offers a glimpse of different construction periods and functions in one place.
Nature in the surrounding area
The Sosny Taborskiej nature reserve is located in the neighbouring municipality of Łukta. Established in 1957, it protects the local ecotype of Scots pine and natural succession processes in a broadleaf forest habitat. An educational trail runs through the protected area and is intended for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as adults and children. More than ten wooden information boards line the route.
