The county seat and largest city is Police. The city is located 13 kilometers north of Szczecin.

The county includes the Natura 2000 Wkrzańska Forest site and the Świdwie Nature Reserve near Tanowo and Dobra. The islands of Wyspa Ostrów, Wyspa Okrętowa, and Wyspa Gryfia, as well as Grodzka Kępa, are also located around Police.

The ruins of the former synthetic fuel factory in Police are considered a habitat for pond bats, greater mouse-eared bats, Daubenton’s bats, whiskered bats, and brown long-eared bats.

Culture and history

The old town of Police includes a 15th-century Gothic chapel on Bolesław Chrobry Square. The Police Lapidary is also located in Staromiejski Park; the old town also includes the remains of a former Gothic Church of St. Mary.
