Kühlungsborn

The Baltic Sea resort lies directly on the open coast of the expansive Bay of Mecklenburg and has grown into Mecklenburg’s largest and most important seaside resort, with nearly two million overnight stays a year.
Boat trips to Rerik and Warnemünde can be booked from the pier. Since 1910, the “Molli” narrow-gauge railway has run from Bad Doberan via the seaside resort of Heiligendamm to the Baltic Sea resort of Kühlungsborn. The marina, built out into the sea in 2005, is a popular destination for many recreational sailors. It has 400 berths and is an important link in the chain of sailing harbours along the Baltic coast between Wismar and Warnemünde.
Numerous buildings in the resort architecture style were constructed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and painstakingly restored from 1990 onwards. Today, they form an almost uninterrupted row along the more than three-kilometre-long seafront promenade, one of the longest on the entire Baltic coast, with uninterrupted views of the sea. The town forest in the centre provides a peaceful retreat within this unique ensemble.
The Baltic Sea resort of Kühlungsborn is characterised above all by its high-standard hotels. The naturally beautiful surroundings are also ideal for an active holiday that promotes health, and are especially inviting for cyclists and Nordic walkers. Kühlungsborn lies on European cycle route E9.
