At Kinderland Trassenheide with Leonie

Our little granddaughter first visited Kinderland Trassenheide with us in 2015, when she was three years old. Back then, she spent at least a whole hour on the trampoline and loved the rides for younger visitors, too. She also climbed almost all the way to the top of the volcano by herself—but then didn’t dare slide all the way down alone. So Grandpa had to step in.
Now, at four years old, she was back for her second visit. Once again, the trampoline was her first stop, and Grandpa let himself be persuaded to jump along at least once, even though, strictly speaking, only one person was allowed on each of the eight trampolines.

Another highlight for Leonie was the basket swing, tucked away in a wonderfully rustic—and rainproof—branch of a large drainage pipe. “I can do it myself,” she protested when Grandpa tried to help her climb up. When another girl of about the same age wanted a turn, she was happy to make room.
Even though her legs were only just long enough, she had to try a ride around the park in a four-wheeled vehicle. Along the way, she discovered the slide with the car tyres, where she spent another half hour, because Grandpa kept hauling the tyre back up for her.
By lunchtime, hunger had set in. While Leonie tried the “Kids box” with chicken nuggets, French fries, a drink and a small gift, Grandma and Grandpa tucked into a really tasty currywurst with fries.

Leonie was always on the move, though every now and then she checked back in with Grandma and Grandpa. The older generation had quickly discovered the new “reclining chairs”—comfortable plastic seats that are easy to take along from one attraction to the next. The park as a whole is very easy to navigate, so parents and grandparents can keep an eye on the little ones from the many fixed benches and picnic swings, too.
Over the years, the park has continued to develop, growing from a grassy field into one with paved paths and different themed areas for various age groups. And there’s always something new being added. We’ll probably keep visiting for as long as Leonie wants to.
