Karlshagen

The Baltic resort of Karlshagen is the youngest and northernmost seaside resort on Usedom Island. After promising beginnings for bathing tourism through 1936, development as a seaside resort did not resume until 1990. In the intervening years, Karlshagen was part of the PeenemĂĽnde Army Research Center, where military rocket technology was developed, and after 1945 it became a military base.
Within just a few years, the Baltic resort of Karlshagen has become one of the most popular family seaside resorts. The wide, fine-sand beach and shallow-water area in northern Usedom are particularly well suited to families with young children.
The Baltic resort of Karlshagen stretches for more than three kilometers from the Baltic coast to the Peenestrom. The harbor there offers more than 60 berths for visiting boats. Piers for fishing boats and passenger vessels lend the area a maritime atmosphere, and freshly caught fish is sold just a few meters from the quay.
The surrounding meadows, coastal forest and beach give the Baltic resort of Karlshagen a natural character that more and more visitors are discovering for themselves.
