Baltic Sea Events

The Baltic Sea coast is not only an excellent holiday destination, but also the setting for major events that sometimes attract hundreds of thousands of visitors. From sailing ship parades on the Baltic Sea, open-air theatre and concerts, and music festivals to major sporting competitions, we give event organizers the opportunity to showcase their events here. The type and scale of these Baltic Sea events vary as much as the interests of their audiences. They range from the unique Ahlbeck Winter Beach Chair Festival, featuring an “official” world-record competition, to theatre performances overlooking the waters of the Baltic Sea or one of its bays; concerts aboard ships; major beach sporting events such as beach volleyball and beach soccer; smaller offshoots such as beach golf or even beach polo; and the many pier festivals held all along the Baltic coast. The Karlshagen Beach Volleyball Tournament, held in late July or early August, is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest tournament of its kind in the world, with more than 1,000 participants every year.

Events like these are a draw not only for holidaymakers and local residents, but also bring numerous day-trippers to the Baltic Sea. In many cases, a day trip turns into a longer holiday in the Baltic Sea region. For many visitors to the Baltic coast, attending one of its many events is not only a reason to take a holiday there, but also an excursion that has become an essential part of their Baltic Sea vacation.
