Families with older children and teenagers might also consider full-day tours. It may also be possible to use public transport to get back to your holiday accommodation. Many buses and trains in holiday regions allow bicycles on board. For families, it can be a special experience to make the journey itself the destination and take a week-long holiday travelling entirely by bicycle. However, the teenagers should be old enough and, above all, enjoy cycle touring; otherwise, a romantically planned cycling trip can quickly turn into an irritating chore. For a cycling holiday on the Baltic Sea with occasional rides in the surrounding area, travellers do not need to make any special arrangements. They can bring their own bicycles or hire one instead. Keen cycle tourists, and those whose holiday consists of cycling along a long-distance cycle route, should plan and carefully consider their equipment in advance. After all, bicycles and gear are put under considerable strain. There is also not a great deal of space in panniers for clothing, tools and equipment.
