Youth Holidays in Mecklenburg
The Mecklenburg Baltic coast, from Boltenhagen via Wismar, the island of Poel, Rerik, Kühlungsborn, Heiligendamm, Nienhagen and Warnemünde to Graal-Müritz, is one of Germany’s most popular holiday regions and attracts a great many Baltic holidaymakers every year. Some of the oldest and now most modern seaside resorts on the Baltic Sea are located here. The former Hanseatic towns of Wismar and Rostock are popular destinations for city breaks, including among young people. Rostock, in particular, with its urban maritime character, offers attractive opportunities year-round for children’s and youth groups holidaying on the Baltic coast. The seaside resort of Warnemünde, just outside Rostock, has one of the widest beaches on the entire Baltic coast, at more than 100 metres wide. Warnemünde’s Alter Strom is regarded as a symbol of the Baltic Sea’s maritime heritage.
The scenic, lake-rich hinterland around Lake Schwerin and the Sternberg Lake District is also a popular destination for activity holidays with youth groups. The Barlach town of Güstrow and the small town of Teterow are also attractive day-trip destinations during a holiday on the Baltic coast. The area is home to popular youth holiday centres, youth hostels and school camps.
The seaside resorts between Boltenhagen and Graal-Müritz also offer numerous opportunities for water sports, which young people can learn at sailing and surfing schools.
